The work has begun. Everyday this week our schedule is the same (Mon-Thur). Before lunch we hang out and do relational work with 15 or so girls at the Industrial School (Detention Center). After lunch we break out the hammers and saws and get to work!
Monday was a day of prepping. We introduced ourselves to the girls and spent the majority of time before lunch getting to know them. After lunch we walked around the Center and found out what the need was. This week we are replacing cabinet doors and reinforcing bunk beds.
Tuesday went a lot smoother. We jumped right in with games and snacks with the girls. We had a short Bible lesson and then had them all make bracelets and necklaces. After lunch we busted out the circular saws and went to town! We got most of the cabinet doors cut and painted, so the rest of the week we’ll be screwing the doors in and reinforcing the beds.
Overall this trip has been great so far. Our team is doing a fantastic job at connecting relationally to the Mission Discovery Staff, as well as the other church group that is here with us. I will hopefully post some pics later on this week!
Thanks for praying!

I think about you all the time. I don’t know if my messages are getting there, but you’re on my heart. Tell Shelly “J” I said Boo misses her something awful and that I hope we packed properly. Just think about how the Apostle Paul did these kinds of things without all of the prep that we have going for us. I know that when these young people look back across their lives this trip will be some of the more meaningful times when they did the Lord’s work. Please stick together!
We’re praying without ceasing. We look forward to hearing about how God used you all. You’re touching lives!
Love you guys-
